Cards for Kids

I was inspired to make some cards today for kids.  Soldiers need to be able to send cards home to their kids and I was inspired to make them due to a post on the OWH website from a soldier wanting cards to send home to her daughter.  I had a lot of fun making them and I hope some special child will enjoy them.

Time Flies

Wow - time flies by so fast!  It seems as though June just started yesterday yet this next week is the last of the month.  I have been so busy this month I haven't had much time to get my OWH cards made much less posted.  I was able to get together a box of cards to send in for the 2nd million challenge.  I guess I was busy enough getting it together that I didn't think about getting pictures of some of my cards.  I stuck a few cards in my box from the latest sketch challenges and the MWT but just forgot about the pictures.  Oh well...the joys of old age - forgetfulness!

I also discovered the blog Create with TLC yesterday.  They have some great free digis on there so I spent a lot of my night going back through that blog just looking and dreaming that I was that good of a card maker!  So, time for me to get off of this blog and get ready for work.  :(

OWH sketch challenge #73

I had fun working on this sketch challenge from OWH this week.  I used a stamp for the sentiment that I picked up from Michaels and used chocolate brown ink to stamp it with.  The top and stripe is just a chocolate brown card stock.  The bottom striped paper is some I got out of the scrap box so not real sure where it came from.  I am going to try to get better at keeping up with what supplies I am using!  I was able to cut my heart and tag with my cricut using just the basic cartridge.

It is a simple card but they are the ones I like best.  I tried to make a card this time that is a little more masculine than the flower cards I have been making.  Sorry the picture quality is not the best this time but I couldn't get the lighting real good when I was taking the picture this time.

Vacation

Well, normally I am super excited to see Friday come around each week but not this time.  Since today is Friday it means it is the end of my vacation.  It was a really nice week off - just spending time with my wonderful daughter.  We did go to Dallas and go to the zoo but other than than we just hung out and did some fun stuff around our house.

Today was a lot of fun because I got together with my Mom and good friend, Mrs Ruth, and we made some cards for OWH.  My mom and I have been making cards together lately and we are going to be able to send in a little over 100 cards next week.  I am super excited to get my first box of cards packed up and sent off.

It is also Father's Day weekend so I am saying HFD to my dad a little early.  I won't be able to see him or spend time with him on Sunday but he knows I love him very much.  I really don't know what I would do without him.  So Dad, HAPPY FATHER'S DAY to one teriffic dad!

OWH green and purple midweek throwdown

My card for the OWH midweek throwdown challenge of using the colors green and purple.  I put a "I'm thinking of You" sentiment on it.

OWH sketch challenge #72

This is my sketch challenge for Operation Write Home Sketch #72.  It is my first sketch challenge so it may not be perfect but I like it!

New Blog

Well - this is my first time to have a blog.  To be honest, I didn't even know what a blog was until a week ago when I started following the Operation Write Home blog hop during the Memorial Day weekend.  Then I saw where I could make cards during their mid-week card challenge but in order to publish my cards, I had to have a blog.  So...here I am!
