Operation Write Home Challenge #12 was Foodie or Fruity. The challenge was to make a card using either food or fruit. I enjoyed this challenge because I usually don't think about putting fruit on a card. However, within the last week I have seen several cards on the OWH facebook page with fruit on them that are super cute so I really think I am going to have to go in this direction for a few cards.
The blue check paper is from Paper Studio.
The watermelon was cut on the Cricut using the cartridge Block Party.
The Sweet sentiment was cut on the Cricut using the cartridge Create a Critter.

OWH challenge 5 - Vintage
Operation Write Home Challenge 5 was to make a vintage card. Well...the card I ended up with may be a stretch but I just don't do vintage. I had to stretch my imagination and brain to come up with what I did. I used what I would call vintage Christmas paper to make a starburst type card. The santa and snowflake paper looked old and vintage to me so I went with it. I used the cricut to cut out the joy sentiment and the christmas tree. The bottom looked plain and I had ribbon but it didn't seem to fit in with the vintage theme so I cut a strip of the snowflake paper and put it across the bottom to add some to it.
Supplies:
Snowflake and Santa paper - The Paper Studio
Red and Green cardstock
Joy and Christmas tree - Cricut cartridge "Create a Critter"
OWH challenge 4 - Freedom
Operation Welcome Home challenge 4 is "What does Freedom Mean to You?" The challenge asked you to post a statement about what your idea of freedom was. Freedom allows me to worship my God whenever and wherever I want. Many people do not have this freedom and I am so thankful for the men and women who are serving in our country's military who ensure that I am able to keep this. Thank you!
Paper: red and blue cardstock
Star paper - The Paper Studio
Stars - Cut from the Cuttlebug star dies
Sentiment - a freebie digi God Bless America from Create With TLC http://createwithtlc-createwithtlc.blogspot.com/
OWH challenge 3 - Yellow Ribbon
Operation Write Home challenge 3 was "Tie a Yellow Ribbon". This challenge wanted you to use the colors brown, yellow, white and peach (no, these are not the exact color names but close enough!). I decided to make a card that someone would be able to send home to their loved one. Thank you Paula (http://paulaposts.blogspot.com/) for this wonderful digi. It is definitely one of my favorites and I use it all the time. I didn't have any yellow ribbon that would be small enough to tie a bow with so I cut one out with my cricut. I had no peach color paper at all so I had to fudge a little and put on peach colored brads under the sentiment. I live too far my closest craft store to just "pop" in and buy supplies when needed unfortunately.
Supplies:
Yellow and brown cardstock
Love you Digi - by Paula at http://paulaposts.blogspot.com/
OWH challenge 2 - Fishy
Operation Write Home Challenge 2 was "There is something Fishy...". The challenge wanted you to use a fish and fishbow on the card. I wasn't quite sure how to go about making a card for this challenge so I just decided to jump in and go for something easy. I used colors that reminded me of cool water.
Supplies:
The blue background was embossed with the Cuttlebug embossing folder bubbles. The fishbowl and fish were cut from the Cricut Cartridge "Create a Critter". The paper is just scraps of cardstock.
Not my best card ever but it did make me think some early in the morning!

Operation Write Home Virtual Cardmaking Party - Challenge 1
The first challenge in the party is to make a card with camo. I decided to go simple and with no sentiment. I decided to let whoever chooses this card to put their own sentiment and words in the card. I have been having fun with the challenges. I am using paper and ideas that I have never done before.
The supplies for this card was really super simple. The dark green on the outside of the cards and the red/blue stars are just from leftover card stock. The camo paper is from The Paper Studio.

Card Making Weekend
Happy Birthday America! I first want to say thank you to all the troops who are away from home right who are protecting our freedoms so we can sleep safe at night.
I am planning on spending this July 4th weekend at home making cards. I am participating in the Operation Write Home Blog challenge where every 2 hours we jump to a different blog for a card making challenge. When I am not making challenge cards, I plan to make fall and any occasion cards to send in to them.
I will try to post different pictures of my challenge cards as the day and weekend goes by. Happy 4th to you all and God bless!
